A rosemary plant is my go-to way to bring life into the kitchen lately.

Simple > intentional > real life use.
We didn’t replace our 1950s cabinets, we edited We didn’t replace our 1950s cabinets, we edited them instead. 🤍

When we moved in 7 years ago, the kitchen already had great bones: original custom cabinetry, a solid layout, and so much potential for charm. Instead of a full renovation, we slowly layered in warmth and character over time.. one thoughtful update at a time.

From window grids and corbels to cafe curtains, warm paint, new hardware, cabinet trim, and a warm, veiny countertop — none of this happened overnight. These little edits have added up in a big way.

This has been about honoring what the home already had and making it feel like us — not chasing trends or tearing things out that didn’t need to be replaced.

If you’re editing instead of replacing, you’re my people. Save this for future kitchen inspiration and permission to go slow 😊✨

Still can’t believe these are the same cabinets. Still can’t believe these are the same cabinets.

We didn’t replace them — we edited them.
Thoughtfully updated to keep their older charm instead of rushing into a full renovation. Just a new countertop, hardware, trim and paint. More character, more warmth, more “us” 🤎

Sharing behind the scenes of the process here and some FAQ below.

If you’re considering refreshing your space, I hope this gives you permission to work with what you have and elevate it intentionally.

• Paint color: @benjaminmoore Advanced Natural Cream in Satin
• Hardware source: @amazonhome and linked in my storefront.
• Corbel: also @amazonhome , installed as a quick DIY
• Countertop: Avalon Reliance Quartz
• Backsplash: kept the existing subway tile
• Trim: applied using DecoFix Pro Strong Install adhesive, from @loweshomeimprovement and linked in Shopmy.
• Hinges: we have a special inset cabinet, was not able to find an inside or soft close version.. but we did replace the internal magnets to help sturdy the close.
• Process: sanded, filled wood holes, sanded, glued on trim, spray painted the cabinet doors and hand painted the structure. then attached new hardware. Big thank you to @henry_and_son professional expertise!
• Inside- no paint, just the stained existing wood.

I have more saved to the kitchen update story highlight. Save this for later + ask anything I missed 👇
